About
she / her / hers
Cara M Feeney (b. 1989) is a Chicago-based visual artist, originally from Champaign, IL. Feeney holds a B.S. in Studio Arts with an emphasis in Painting from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and a Museum Studies Certificate from Northwestern University. In 2015, Feeney designed and painted a mural in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago in collaboration with the Overhead Project. Feeney’s work is held in private collections in the United States.
By juxtaposing hard-edged geometric forms and organic melting paint puddles, Cara M Feeney creates mind-bending optical experiences. Her work actively aims to pull the viewer into a visual space known only to the deepest intergalactic explorers and those familiar with other dimensions. Feeney has shifted her style from painterly figuration to utilizing abstraction, bright neon hues and color gradations that are reflective of the physical world, but not bound to it. Attracted to and inspired by spiral galaxies, cosmic black holes and phantasmagorical optical illusions, Feeney’s work refuses to be limited to a two-dimensional realm.
